Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October, Ari Lennox released her debut EP Pho. The EP was where she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's references. In the following calendar, her songs was played all over Dreamville. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February 2019, the music video for this track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views within a week. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December the year 2018.
